What happens in a first call?

Forty-five minutes, no charge, no pressure. You tell me what is happening and what you have already tried. I listen, ask questions, and by the end we both know whether this feels like a fit. If not, I will usually know someone who might be.

How do you charge?

Most family work is billed monthly, with the scope and rhythm spelled out in writing at the start. I am transparent about cost in our first conversation and offer a sliding scale when money is a real barrier.

Do you take insurance?

No. Because I am not a licensed clinician, insurance does not apply. Some families get partial reimbursement through a health savings or flexible spending account. I am happy to provide receipts in whatever form your plan requires.

Can my young person meet with you without me?

Yes — and I often encourage it. Mentorship with your son or daughter can run alongside our family work. I bring years of youth mentorship experience and my own stories of growth and recovery. These interactions always follow a strict professional structure.

What if we are not the right fit?

I will say so, usually in the first call. I keep a small network of clinicians, advisors, and programs I trust. Helping you find the right person is part of the work — even when that person is not me.

Do you work with families outside the US?

Yes. Roughly a third of my family work is international. Time zones are manageable; we figure it out together.

How long does this usually last?

Most families work with me for six to twelve weeks through an acute moment, and many stay in lighter touch for a year or more. There is no long-term contract — we keep going only as long as it is useful.

What does confidentiality mean in practice?

Your name, your story, and anything about your family stays with me. I do not share it in conversation, presentations, or posts without your explicit, written permission. The only exceptions are imminent risk of harm or a lawful court order.
